The process includes ovarian stimulation to produce multiple eggs, egg retrieval, fertilization in the lab, and embryo transfer into the uterus. IVF is commonly used when other fertility treatments have failed or when there are issues like blocked fallopian tubes, male infertility, or unexplained infertility.

How is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Performed?

1. Ovarian Stimulation: Hormonal medications are prescribed to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs.
2. Egg Retrieval: The eggs are retrieved from the ovaries using a thin needle, guided by ultrasound.
